THE GAP EVERY SUMMARY LEAVES
Every summary, ours included, ends where your questions start. You read that a regulator filed suit, and you want to know who they are. A video mentions a number that doesn’t match something you read last week, and you want to square the two. The summary ends; your curiosity doesn’t.
That gap is where Max lives. He has read your briefings — all of them — and he’s there for the second question, the “wait, explain that again,” and the “what else has come up about this?”
Think of him as a well-read friend who knows a lot about everything and happens to have actually read everything your sources published this month.
MAX SHOWS UP WHERE THE QUESTIONS DO
Max shows up exactly where the questions do, not in a separate place you have to remember to visit:
- On your Today page — every briefing card carries an Ask Max about this chip. One tap, and he opens already looking at that briefing.
- In the Reader — reading a summary and want to go deeper on one section? Send it to Max and start from there.
- In the Chat tab — his home. A full conversation with your history, on desktop or phone. Come with a question about your digests or about anything else.
The point is the same one behind the whole product: you don’t go to a new place to get value. The depth comes to where you already are.
WHAT CAN MAX DO?
Explaining your briefings further. A summary compresses; Max expands. Ask him to unpack any claim, number, or name in today’s digest, and he’ll walk you through it — in plainer language, with the context the summary had to cut.
Finding things you already read. “When did he talk about the antitrust case?” “Which digest mentioned the funding round?” Max can pull up a past daily summary or find the one that covered a topic. Your history stops being a pile and starts being searchable.
Talking about anything. Your sources are his home turf, but they’re not his ceiling. He’s a knowledgeable companion on his own — ask him about a concept, a news story, or an argument you’re trying to think through.
Being honest about his limits. What Max won’t do is pretend. He won’t quietly change your settings or add sources behind your back — managing what you follow stays yours. And he’d rather say he’s not sure than invent an answer.
WHY A COMPANION, AND NOT JUST A CHATBOT
Most chatbots start from zero. You open them, and they know nothing about you, your interests, or the 200 videos, threads, and posts your sources published this month. Every conversation is with a stranger.
Max starts from your briefings. When you ask him about a topic, he knows it came up in Tuesday’s digest, that your sources have covered it 3 times this month, and that the number in today’s summary is an update of one you already saw. That’s a different kind of conversation — one where you don’t have to re-explain your own interests every time.
This is the second half of reading instead of watching. The daily briefing makes the firehose small enough to read. Max makes sure that when two sentences aren’t enough, depth is one question away — without sending you back down the rabbit hole the briefing saved you from.

Where do I talk to Max?
Three places. On your Today page, every briefing card has an 'Ask Max about this' chip. In the Reader, you can send a section straight into a conversation with him. And the Chat tab is his home — a full conversation with your history, on the web or on your phone.
What can Max do?
He can explain any topic in your briefings in more depth, pull up a past daily summary or find the one that covered a specific topic, start a fresh summary for you on request, and talk about anything else on your mind. What he won't do is silently change your settings — managing your sources stays yours.
Does Max only know about my summaries?
No. Your briefings are his home turf — that's where he's most useful — but he can hold his own on almost any topic. Ask him about something in the news, a concept you're wrestling with, or a recommendation, and he'll give you a straight answer.
